LITERATURE
Yseult Riopelle, Jean Paul Riopelle Catalogue raisonné des estampes, 2005, reproduced pages 20 and 142, listed page 363, catalogue #1967.02EST.LI
Throughout his career, Jean Paul Riopelle explored printmaking as an extension of his painterly practice. Working in lithography, etching, and other print media, he translated the energy, spontaneity, and rich textures of his paintings into works on paper. His prints often retain the sense of movement and freedom that characterize his best-known abstractions, while revealing the artist’s sensitivity to the unique possibilities of each medium. Together, Riopelle’s graphic works form an important and vibrant part of his artistic legacy.
Heffel is proud to be a presenting partner of the inauguration of the new Espace Riopelle – Michael Audain Pavilion at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, opening its doors on October 22.
