Christopher Pratt wrote, "On Waterford Bridge Road we lived just across the river from the railway tracks. In the late '40s and early '50s steam locomotives still hauled the trains in Newfoundland, and we saw or heard every train that left or arrived in St. John's. When I got to Sackville, trains were omnipresent; and my first recollection of being there is of hearing locomotives in the night, wailing on the Tantramar."
