PROVENANCE
Private Collection / Collection privée

Known for her colourful and highly symbolic universe, artist Kittie Bruneau is a painter and printmaker whose works can be found in major museums in Quebec and other important Canadian collections. Often associated with post-automatism, her work has been included in around 60 exhibitions. In La chasse-galerie (The Flying Canoe) imaginary creatures painted in black stand out from a colourful background replete with symbols inspired by the popular French-Canadian legend, demonstrating the fine poetic visual language of this significant artist, who passed away in 2021.
