In 1967, Ronald Searle and Kildare Dobbs were commissioned to document the history of the Hudson's Bay Company in a satirical and illustrated book to commemorate the company's 300th anniversary. The result was "The Great Fur Opera: Annals of the Hudson's Bay Company, 1670-1970 ", published in 1970. This was one of three Searle illustrations featured on HBC's annual calendar in 1970, the last year the calendars were produced.
