PROVENANCE
Estate of the Artist
Private Collection, Alberta

From 1975 on, Newfoundland was a favourite painting destination of McCarthy’s. Woody Point is located in Gros Morne National Park, on Newfoundland's west coast.

“Fresh Vision: Works by Doris McCarthy” comes to Heffel from a private collector and personal friend of the artist, committed to the promotion of McCarthy’s legacy. The works included were acquired directly from McCarthy’s Estate in 2019, and since then, the inspired patron has donated more than 400 artworks to the University of Toronto Scarborough’s Doris McCarthy Gallery. The thoughtful division of the collection ensures McCarthy’s work is comprehensively represented in the public domain and accessible to scholars, art professionals and the community. Heffel is honoured to present a select group of works from this important collection for private collectors to embrace and enjoy.
