LITERATURE
Roger Boulet, The Tranquility and the Turbulence, 1981, the 1945 watercolour entitled Above Lake Louise reproduced page 202 and the colour woodcut reproduced page 203
Roger Boulet, Walter J. Phillips: The Complete Graphic Works, 1981, reproduced page 553

This woodcut was produced in an edition of 200 for members of The Woodcut Society in Alexandria, Virginia. This work comes in the original presentation folder with the member letter.

Walter J. Phillips wrote about this print in the folder, "The tumbling water had a faint luminosity in that somewhat gloomy setting. I walked to the southern end of the lake to make my sketches…I stopped when Mount Lefroy came into view - its snow-capped peak hidden by a cloud, and felt inspired to make a note of what I saw. The cold draughts from the glaciers were forgotten for an hour, but when I had finished I stood up and shivered so violently that I startled the young mountain sheep that had been looking over my shoulder to see what I was doing."

Please note: this work is unframed and presented in the original folder.
