This lot is comprised of the limited edition book in its wood, cloth and leather portfolio box, along with 12 silkscreens by Jean Paul Lemieux which were printed by hand on Arches paper by the Quebec master printer, Louis Desaulniers.
The book has a preface by Pierre Elliott Trudeau, an introduction by Pierre Berton and texts on each province and territory written by Gabriel Sagard-Théodat, Alistair MacLeod, Robert Kroetsch, Jacques Cartier, Gabriel Roy, Earle Birney, Heather Robertson, Hugh MacLennan, Josef Skvorecky, Ambrose Bierce, Farley Mowat and Pierre Biard. This book was published by Editions ASL, Montreal in 1985 in a limited edition of 225 copies.
Please note that these twelve silkscreens by Lemieux exist only in this medium, the original images having been destroyed by the artist when the publication was complete.
