Each panel with exquisite details including the cover which shows Zhuge Liang in a riverboat retrieving Lady Sun for Liu Bei, amongst her attendants and grand army, many of which are in the distance, the borders with Greek key fret patterns surrounded by interlocking archaistic bands, the sides of the box showcasing five scenes of the life Liu Bei, Zhang Fei and Guanyu, and the front with a latch carved in the form of a large monster mask. The interior lined in blue felt.
