Winifred Lampman, née Mackenzie, original owner of this painting, was the daughter of Helen and A.W. Mackenzie, who were owners and proprietors of the Lakefield College School in Lakefield, Ontario. Winifred was an artist who studied under Fred Varley and was friends with J.W. Beatty and Franz Johnston. She acquired this painting directly from Beatty.
