This watercolour is an excellent example of Frederick Varley’s talent in a very difficult medium. It bears remarkable resemblance to Tree Patterns, circa 1940 – 1944, an oil on canvas board that was bequeathed by Mrs. Donald McKay of Toronto to the Varley Art Gallery.
