Pol Chambost was a renowned French ceramist and designer known for his innovative work in the field of ceramics. Chambost began his training in the early 1920s, studying at the École des Arts Appliqués à l’industrie in Paris and taking evening classes at the École des Arts Décoratifs. He then joined his father's family marble business, where he worked as a funerary sculptor. In the mid-1930s, he discovered and began experimenting with ceramics, achieving full mastery of the medium by the end of the decade and establishing his own studio.

His work is characterized by sleek, biomorphic forms, geometric lines and a subtle use of color, reflecting a modern sensibility and minimalist aesthetic.

From the 1940s onwards, using electric kilns, Chambost commenced serial production and collaborated with numerous ceramists such as Pierre Fouquet, Paul Pouchol and Georges Jouve. These connections led him to work with major "grands magasins" such as Le Bon Marché, Galeries Lafayette and Primavera.

The 1950s marked a turning point in Chambost's career with the expansion of his studio, the internationalization of his clientele, and his participation in numerous exhibitions, including the Commercial Salon of Art Workshops (now more commonly known as Maison & Objet).
