PROVENANCE
A gift from the Artist to a Private Collection, Vancouver Island
By descent to the present Private Collection, Vancouver Island

Edwin (Bud) Oben was a stockbroker in Vancouver when Robert Genn joined his firm as a junior broker. Genn shared his artwork with Bud and after a few months of mentoring in the broker business, Bud told Genn that his art was good enough that he should quit the firm and paint fulltime, as he felt Genn could make a living at it and it was his passion. Genn heeded his advice and became an exceptional artist who saw great success in his lifetime. As a thank you to Bud for his encouragement, Genn painted this image of Bud and his wife Betty's sailboat, the Skybird. The two remained friends until Bud's passing in 2005.
