Gallery Moos, Toronto
From 1962 to 1964, Chinese-American artist and poet Walasse Ting, along with artist Sam Francis, brought together leading Abstract Expressionist and Pop artists to illustrate Ting’s poetry anthology. Titled 1¢ Life, the portfolio is a vibrant and cohesive collaboration of art and poetry, showcasing important contemporary artists such as Andy Warhol, Joan Mitchell, Robert Rauschenberg and Roy Lichtenstein.
The portfolio is comprised of 62 colour lithographs, each measuring 16 x 12 inches, by 28 iconic artists of the 1960s. Examples can be found in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the British Museum. 1¢ Life was published in 1974 by E.W. Kornfeld in an edition of 2000.
This portfolio is number 1933 of the limited edition of 2000 and is inside a cloth slipcase which measures 12 x 16 3/4 x 1 3/4 inches.
