Kate Galicz

Majoring in both Art History and History, Kate completed her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia in 2002. Graduating in 2007 from York University, Kate received her Master’s in Art History, with a focus on Contemporary Canadian Art. In addition, Kate also completed her Graduate diploma in Curatorial Studies from York University and holds a certificate in Human Resource Management from SFU.

Kate gained experience as a curatorial intern at the Art Gallery of Ontario. In 2004 Kate began working with Heffel in the Toronto office, where she was responsible for digital imaging and gallery administration.

Kate moved to the Vancouver office in 2007, where she is now the Director of the Vancouver office, Director of Appraisal Services and also a senior Consignment Specialist. With expertise in Canadian art, as well as a broad knowledge of American and European artwork, Kate has experience appraising Private Collections, artwork in Public Institutions, Estates and Large Corporate Collections. Kate also manages the Human Resources department for Heffel’s growing national team. One of Kate’s highlights of her over ten year tenure at Heffel is her involvement in the Peter and Joanne Brown Collection sale in Fall 2016, the most valuable single-consignor collection in Canadian art auction history.
