Reid, a renowned Haida artist, drew his images from his ancestors’ mythological northwest coast bestiary. In Haida culture, the frog is a symbol of prosperity, considered friendly to humans, warning them of any imminent danger.
The former owner received this bracelet in 1956 as a gift from colleagues when leaving CBC Radio. Bill Reid also worked at CBC Radio at this time.
