The eight-panel screen painted on silk and mounted as a Japanese screen depicting Chinese figures practicing the scholarly arts including calligraphy, music, painting and poetry, all within a landscape containing a bamboo grove, pine trees, a mountainous landscape and waterfall, the upper left section with an essay written after the Chinese Song Dynasty poet and calligrapher Mifu (1051-1107).
Each image measures 55 1/2 x 14 1/2 inches.
