This painting of a small cove in Georgian Bay is carefully composed. The grey sky perfectly mirrors the calm waters of the bay, highlighting the bright houses of the small rural settlement. Casson expertly weaves geometric shapes into both the clouds and the water. This approach is a trademark of Casson’s later works and not only adds depth and dimension but also skillfully directs the viewer’s eye across the surface of the picture.
