Acquired from the Estate of Roderick Cameron by the present Private Collection, France
Roderick Cameron, who died at age 71 in 1985, was a figure in international society, a writer, and in later years, a professional interior designer. La Fiorentina, his home in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, became a model of great taste and design, reinforcing Cameron's reputation as one of the celebrated 20th century tastemakers. With that in mind, it is not surprising that Cameron would have been attracted to this outstanding trompe l'oeil work by Kurelek, which was one item among a large number of art works, furnishings and objects amassed by him. Trompe l'oeil with a Fisherman's Fly (which includes a well-used Canadian dollar bill and a 15 cent stamp) was acquired from Cameron's Estate.
