The Royal Art Lodge is a collaborative group of artists based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, that was founded in 1996 by Michael Dumontier, Marcel Dzama, Neil Farber, Drue Langlois, Jonathan Pylypchuk, and Adrian Williams. Of this group, only three remain: Dzama, Dumontier and Farber. These artists worked collaboratively, and this drawing, with its depiction of a semi-hybrid human riding piggyback on a large, hybrid animal, is characteristic of the sense of fantasy that this group was known for.
