This work shows Tim Pitsiulak’s affinity for the wildlife of the Arctic and Inuit culture. Sedna, the sea-goddess who was part of the Inuit creation story and who helped sea mammals, was a favorite subject for Pitsiulak. However, he took the character one step further, and created Edna, Sedna's counterpart, who was also a saviour of people in the ocean. This work depicts a majestic bowhead whale gently guided by Edna. Pitsiulak’s drawings often go beyond realism, taking us into the mystical.
